The Music Makers (1912) and The Spirit Of England (1915-1917) were Elgar's last major choral works. In both he set verses by men adjudged considerable poets in their day. The Elgar Complete Edition brings together for the first time all of the composer's surviving music from printed and manuscript sources.

In Smyrna and Skizze contain all the music which Elgar conceived and wrote entirely for the piano between the Concert Allegro of 1901 and three little works which appeared in the composer's old age. The pages of Skizze and In Smyrna give us a special insight into Elgar's understanding of the piano at the summit of his career.
