When Wallin’s Clarinet Concerto was performed by the ClevelandOrchestra in 2002 the composer was so buoyed by the warm reaction of audience and musicians that he was inspired to create this work for Orchestra to summon all its forces as one entity in forward motion together. Of the genesisof this piece Wallin wrote that ‘The foundation of mankind’s success is our ability to cooperate. For me one of the most amazing examples of human collaboration is the symphony Orchestra'.
