This upbeat overture displays the flutes oboes and mallets in bell-like sounds contrasting with tutti brass and woodwinds. An optional trumpet solo is one of many features in the flowing lyrical section before the return of the theme and coda.

This fun dance-like piece has a mildly syncopated motif with a percussion section including mallets claves maracas agogo bells bongos and cowbell. This very playable and appealing overture by Robert Jager is sure to be enjoyable by younger players. Bold and dignified characterize the opening segment which is followed by an energetic faster theme reminiscent of a ScottishHighland dance. A tender hymn-like melody is then developed before returning to the faster theme and powerful closing coda. Very well scored to sound full.
