Par SAMMARTINI. The Sonata In G For Cello And Piano was formerly attributed to Giovanni Battista Sammartini (c. 1698-1775), however scholars now attribute this piece to the French cellist and composer Martin Berteau (1709-71), one ofthe founders of the French cello tradition. The sonata for cello in G major seamlessly balances the higher register with the fundamental sonority of the cello, elegantly demonstrating the natural sonic potential of the thumbposition. The solo cello part is also included on a separate insert. / Répertoire d'Examen / Répertoire / Violoncelle et Piano
