This cantata belongs to the annual cycle “Musicalisches Lob Gottes in der Gemeine des Herrn' printed in 1744, from which the “Biblische Sprüche' [see p. 12] are also taken. As with the choruses, in the arias Telemann allows for a great deal of freedom in the forces employed, whether with regard to the octave ranges of the voices, or the optional use of wind instruments doubling the strings.
