Berezovsky's known output includes a number of choral concertos, reflective of his Italian training. Turn thy face not away is a fine example of his skill in his musical word painting. Particularly powerful is the final section, a choral fugue, which creates a dramatic closure to the psalmist's prayer. This work is quite appropriate as a Lenten anthem or concert work.
