| Maverick I [noise] is the first piece in a five-part series of solo compositions for double-bass instruments. The subtitle 'noise' points to the fact that the composition is pervaded by numerous noise-like elements - from extremely low windage noise to distorted multiphonics. However, the piece is not only noise-like, it rather contains musical elements, such as multiphonics, repetitions and stationary tones, that gradually develop from the 'overloaded' beginning, with hard cuts and harsh sounds still determining the uncompromising character of the piece. |
